» What does KeroKero mean? This is usually the first question when the name 'kerokero' comes up. The term is taken from "kero kero" which basically is the japanese version of the american "ribbit ribbit" sound a frog makes. With my significant interest in frogs, this seemed to be a good name and is one I've been using for my web design exploits since the late 1990's. » Who is KeroKero? My name is Corey Wickliffe, the lead designer behind KeroKero Designs (yes, which is to imply that there are some other people involved occasionally). I've kept various herps all my life, and Poison Dart Frogs specifically since 1998, and I currently like to pretend I specialize in Atelopus sp., E. tricolor, D. truncatus, and D. imitator complex, but my actual collection is eclectic and varied outside those groups. I am a long time member (but a lurker) on the FrogNet mailing list, a more active member on Dendroboard, and also a member of the Canadian Canadart.org forums and the UK Dendroworld forums, where you can track me down on these forums under the user name "kerokero". Ok, so that explains the herp specialization, but what about the web design? It started back in high school with a couple of friends who did some basic web design, and I taught myself HTML by dissecting the code of their web pages. I was pretty good at computers, and an avid art student at the time (I seriously considered art school but didn't like the starving artist idea) so they merged pretty well into web design talents. I started out doing just my own web pages for the gecko breeding projects of the time (I've since gotten out of breeding reptiles), using them to sell offspring online, and then one day I insulted one of my friend's websites saying I could do better. That friend happened to be Justin Yeager, Yeager's Frogs was born, and the rest is history. | |
