» Hosting I offer hosting to sites that I am designing and managing, at a cost of $7/month, $10/year for URLs, or $5/year for subdomains of kero-kero.net. I usually handle all the design and management of my sites, and do all the FTP uploading myself, but if the site owner would like access to change web content, Users can be set up for FTP access (this is only in the case of html knowledgeable people). I am working on ways for html content change for those not as familiar with html. The web site does not need to be hosted by me, as long as I have FTP access, but please realize that due to the differences between hosting companies this may incur extra fees. If you are interested in a separate hosting plan I highly recommend Dreamhost, who have been my server company for 4 years. Their prices are competitive, service is awesome, and their space and bandwidth allotments are outstanding (and have a habit of expanding a couple times a year). If you sign up for Dreamhost, please let them know kerokero sent you! Non-profit sites may have reduced or free hosting, please contact me directly for more information. » Graphic Design My Examples of my work and capabilities can be seen on this site and the sites listed in my portfolio. These are not all I can do, just what I've successfully done thus far that I'm willing to showcase. Along with my web site design, I can design business cards, banners for use at reptile/frog shows, advertisements in magazines, promotional fliers, and various banners for online applications such as advertisements on web portals. I can design these to match the theme of a current web page or of the web page I am designing. Web banners run at a rate of $50 per 600 x 90 pixel banner (like those used on Dendroboard Forums and Kingsnake classifieds), $65 for a 468 x 60 pixel and 160 x 160 banner combo (for sites such as Vivarium Topsites which use both sizes. For other web banner sizes and combinations, or for quotes on other graphic work, please contact me. » Web Design I do not currently do some of the advanced PHP/CSS sites like some of the online stores currently up. I will tell you up front if what you want me to do is within my capabilities. I have done sites in the past where I've done the basic layout and the advanced coding was done by another person. **PLEASE NOTE** while I have worked mostly for trades and negotiated overall value of my work in the past, due to workload and demand I am setting a per hour rate of $55/hr. I will keep track of my hours as I work on the site, and you will receive a record of this with your bill. I am trying to make my sites top notch, and sites similar to those I've made go for well over $1000 for the site design alone.
Website templates are available, in both the style seen here on the KeroKero Designs home page, and the style seen on Yeager's Frogs web page, for a set rate of $250 base price. This allows me to not have to spend the time to write the code from scratch, and saves you the money of having to pay me to do it, rather just pay for the time it takes me to make new graphics for the page. I can do other layout styles as well, but they are generally more expensive as it takes me time to write out the code successfully for them. Pages just coming under my management might also incur some design fees, even if I am not hired on for redesigning the existing site originally, as there might be major glitches in the current page that need to be fixed for the site to run satisfactorily. Some sites are designed by former webmasters in such a way that I cannot easily modify without significant difficulty, usually through Dreamweaver, Frontpage, or other "page builder" programs that require no coding knowledge, and I may request to have the site redesigned before I will take over management. I work using the code of the site, and these sites are built by the programs often in such a way that any small changes made via the code, and not through the program it was origianlly made in, will result in the page falling apart and me having to rebuild it anyway to get it to work. Trades are still accepted! My motto still is, and will continue to be I work for frogs! Please see my Trade/Wanted List for those animals I'm actively accepting, and take it into account when offering trades as payment, as I may not accept animals not on that list due to them not fitting into current projects, and only having so much time and room to look after my collection! Trade value is determined by current market value of the trade offers, and my hourly design rate, and must be agreed upon before hand. I may design or maintain certain sites for reduced rates. These are sites that the owner(s) do NOT make a profit from, and are mainly for information purposes only, or something similar. Hosting and URL fees may still apply, but I often can discount hosting significantly, and subdomains of kero-kero.net can be supplied for free. Please contact me for more information on this. » Updating This applies for both sites I design and set up, as well as already running sites that I take on management for. Site updates will be charged at a rate of $10/quarter hour, and billed at the end of the month (this charge can be applied towards trades). Site updates usually include adding/removing animals and products from availability, updating What's New/Updates/News, and minor updates of galleries. Updates with more than 15 pictures (especially if I have to resize and watermark them) and adding new sections to the site might incur the design fee due to the high amount of work. » Pictures The site will only look as good as the pictures you send me! I can't improve the quality of a bad picture. Pictures play a very important role in a website, and it’s worth your wild to do what you can to get the best pictures of your animals for your site. Graphics wise, the more pictures I receive, the more I have to work with, and the better products I can produce. Its better to send 50 good pictures than just your five favorites, as there might be some very good pictures for graphics in those other 45 pictures. Picture pirating is a common occurrence on the internet and I try to slow it down as much as I can from my sites but it really boils down to if you don't want you pictures stolen on the internet, don't put them there in the first place. I have a couple tricks I use to make it hard to grab pictures from the site, and I include the site name and/or photographer's name on the picture. This is the best I can do, and I, nor any other designer, can guarantee the pictures will not be grabbed from the web. » Other Stuff I freely give out advice and knowledge on web designing, herp knowledge, and the herp community (both online and offline) but please realize that asking me "how to do a webpage" is a big question! Due to the amount of times I get this question, I have added a Web Tips section to help you guys in the right direction, and things to think about when designing a site. I withhold the right to turn down applicants and trade offers. Usually if I turn down sites its due to the current workload being heavy. As for trades, please make sure to check out my Trade List for stuff I'm looking for, as these are guaranteed trades for my service. Other animals/products might be accepted if offered, but I may turn them down due to space restrictions or if they don't fit into current projects. | |
